Do you sometimes feel frustrated that you want to give more time and support to your most vulnerable pupils, but the reality of large classes and busy school environments makes this difficult?
Have you ever thought about moving into a specialist setting where you can really focus on the individual needs of your pupils?
We’re working with an inspiring therapeutic service that supports some of the hardest to reach and most vulnerable young people. They have a no exclusion policy and work with pupils who may have been out of education for a long time and have SEMH and/or ASC, alongside complex additional needs. The young people they support may have experienced trauma, exploitation, violence and abuse, so this is a role where building trust and strong relationships is really important.
You can teach small groups of pupils, working alongside Therapeutic Mentors to create a safe, positive and engaging environment where the young people can learn and feel supported. The service has a really strong track record of helping young people get back into full-time education or employment, while also supporting them to manage their emotions, build confidence and start processing some of the experiences they have been through. If you haven’t worked in a specialist setting before, they provide excellent therapeutic training to help you understand the young people you are working with, their individual needs and how to support them when they become dysregulated.
This could be a great opportunity for an experienced mainstream Teacher looking to transition their skillset into a more specialist setting and make a real difference to some of the young people who need it most.
