Location: Harlow, Essex
Salary: £34,398–£46,839 (M1–M6, dependent on experience)
Contract: Full-time, term-time only
Some young people need more than a traditional classroom.
They need a teacher who can look beyond behaviour, understand what sits underneath it and create an environment where they feel safe enough to learn, grow and believe in themselves again.
Parker Smith Inclusion is working in partnership with a specialist SEMH school in Harlow that is looking for a dedicated and compassionate Teacher to join its team.
The school supports young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, providing a structured, nurturing environment where relationships come first and every achievement matters.
Built around kindness, respect, responsibility and safety, the school recognises that meaningful progress starts with trust. Staff are supported to develop their skills, work collaboratively and create positive experiences for pupils who may have struggled within mainstream education.
This is an opportunity to become part of a team that understands the importance of consistency, patience and seeing the potential in every young person.
The Role
As a Teacher, you'll plan and deliver engaging, personalised learning that helps pupils reconnect with education, develop confidence and achieve their potential.
You'll have the opportunity to adapt your teaching to meet individual academic, emotional and developmental needs, using relationship-led and trauma-informed approaches to create a positive learning environment.
What you'll be doing:
-
Planning and delivering engaging lessons tailored to pupils with SEMH needs.
-
Adapting teaching methods to suit different abilities, learning styles and emotional needs.
-
Building strong, trusting relationships that encourage pupils to engage with learning.
-
Using trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches to support emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
-
Creating a safe, structured and consistent classroom environment.
-
Supporting pupils to develop resilience, independence and social skills.
-
Working collaboratively with Teaching Assistants and the wider school team.
-
Contributing to individual learning plans, behaviour strategies and pupil progress reviews.
About You
We're looking for a teacher who understands that behaviour is a form of communication and that building relationships is just as important as delivering the curriculum.
Ideally, you'll:
-
Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
-
Have experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs, or be passionate about moving into specialist SEND education.
-
Be calm, patient and resilient when faced with challenging situations.
-
Understand the importance of consistency, boundaries and emotional safety.
-
Be confident adapting lessons to meet individual needs.
-
Build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and the wider school community.
-
Be committed to helping young people overcome barriers and achieve meaningful progress.
What's on Offer?
-
A supportive, values-led specialist SEMH school.
-
A strong focus on staff wellbeing and professional development.
-
Access to ongoing CPD and specialist training.
-
A collaborative team that values every member of staff.
-
The opportunity to make a genuine difference to young people's lives.
-
A rewarding teaching role where progress is measured in confidence, relationships and achievement, as well as academic outcomes.
