SEMH Teacher - Construction

Specialist SEMH Setting

Enfield

Starting September 2026

Are you a skilled Construction Teacher or vocational specialist looking for a role where your expertise can truly make a difference?

A specialist SEMH setting in Enfield is seeking an enthusiastic and committed teacher to lead and deliver a vocational construction curriculum within a highly supportive and forward-thinking environment.

From the moment you step into this setting, you’ll notice the strong sense of community and purpose. The school is nurturing, relationship-focused, and deeply committed to supporting both staff and students. While the role comes with its challenges, it offers a unique opportunity to inspire young people and equip them with real-world skills for the future.

The school takes a trauma-informed, restorative and relational approach, ensuring that all students are supported to engage, achieve and grow.

About the Role

You will lead and deliver Level 1/2 vocational construction qualifications, primarily within a Post-16 provision, with scope to expand into Key Stage 4.

Teaching will take place in a purpose-built technological centre, designed to mirror real construction environments and provide hands-on, practical learning experiences.

The role includes:

  • Delivering a broad construction curriculum including bricklaying, carpentry/woodwork, plastering, tiling and general construction skills
  • Embedding health & safety and employability skills into all learning
  • Designing an engaging, industry-relevant vocational curriculum
  • Supporting students to develop confidence, independence and transferable skills
  • Building links with local employers and industry professionals
  • Working closely with the Vocational Lead to develop and grow the provision

What You Can Expect

  • A brand-new, fully equipped vocational learning environment
  • Strong support from experienced staff and leadership
  • A collaborative approach across teaching, pastoral and vocational teams
  • A school culture rooted in relationships, trust and restorative practice
  • Ongoing professional development and opportunities to shape the curriculum
  • Flexibility and understanding around work/life balance
  • The chance to make a tangible difference to students’ future pathways

Why This Role?

This is a rare opportunity to teach in a purpose-built vocational setting where your subject expertise directly impacts students’ futures. You’ll be part of a school that values both personal development and employability, giving young people the tools they need to succeed beyond education.

If you are looking for a role where you can combine practical teaching with meaningful impact, this could be the perfect next step.
