SEMH Teaching Assistant / Behaviour Mentor | Camden
Camden, North West London | £95–£100 per day | Full-time only | Monday–Friday
Not every young person has had a straightforward relationship with education.
Some have experienced repeated exclusions, difficult relationships with adults or circumstances that make sitting quietly in a classroom far more complicated than it appears.
Parker Smith Inclusion is recruiting full-time SEMH Teaching Assistants and Behaviour Mentors for specialist SEND settings across Camden.
The strongest candidates aren't necessarily those with years of school experience.
They're often the people who can remain calm, communicate without judgement and build trust without losing professional boundaries.
What will you be doing?
You may:
- Work individually with pupils who need additional emotional or behavioural support
- Build consistent professional relationships
- Support pupils back into learning following difficult moments
- Help young people recognise and manage emotions
- Encourage positive choices without constant confrontation
- Maintain clear and predictable boundaries
- Support learning inside and outside the classroom
- Work with teachers and pastoral professionals
- Help pupils rebuild their confidence in education

This isn't about being the “strict” adult
Successful SEMH support usually comes from consistency rather than confrontation.
Young people need to understand where the boundaries are, but they also need to know that one difficult interaction isn't going to change how you treat them the following morning.
That consistency can be transformational.
