SEMH Teaching Assistant - Camden

We’re supporting a school in Camden that works with children who’ve learned (often unfairly) that adults don’t stick around. They’re now looking for a SEMH Teaching Assistant who will.
What the job actually looks like:
Some days you’ll support learning.
Other days you’ll sit quietly with a pupil who’s overwhelmed.
Occasionally, progress will look like no incidents today, and that matters.
You’ll be there to:

Offer calm, consistent support when emotions run high

Help pupils feel safe enough to re-engage with school

Work closely with staff who understand SEMH, not judge it

Be a steady presence pupils can rely on
This role might be right for you if:

You don’t take challenging behaviour personally

You understand that trust is earned slowly

You can stay regulated when others can’t

You care more about long-term impact than quick wins
Experience in SEMH, PRUs, alternative provision, youth work, care, or mental health settings is valued - but the right mindset matters more than a perfect CV.
