SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location – Enfield, North London
Primary and Secondary
£100 – £120 per day (PAYE)
Are you passionate about supporting young people who struggle to access mainstream education due to Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs?
We are working closely with a specialist SEMH school based in North London. The school is set within a modern, purpose-built environment designed to support both staff and students. It caters for pupils from Key Stage 1 through to Key Stage 4 and works using a strong trauma-informed approach to ensure every student is supported holistically.
The school is currently recruiting for two SEMH Teaching Assistant roles. One role is supporting a Key Stage 3 student in a 2:1 capacity. This student is one of the most challenging on the secondary site, so it is essential that the successful candidate has previous experience supporting children with SEMH or behavioural needs. Experience can be professional or personal.
The second role is a Year 5 SEMH Teaching Assistant position, supporting a pupil with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. This role requires a candidate who is confident in relationship-building and skilled in de-escalation strategies, with the ability to remain calm and consistent during challenging situations.
The role will involve supporting students with SEMH needs to help them engage with learning, encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation, and helping to create a safe, structured, and consistent environment. If you have a background in sports, your skills will be highly valued, particularly in supporting emotional regulation and engagement.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with young people with SEMH, behavioural needs, trauma, sensory processing difficulties or social communication needs. You will be able to build strong and meaningful relationships, act as a positive role model, and demonstrate effective behaviour management skills. Patience, empathy, resilience, and a genuine passion for working with SEND are essential.
If you are interested in either of these roles, please apply directly to this advert. Alternatively, you can contact Katie at Parker Smith Inclusion.
