A specialist school in Enfield is looking for an SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team. The school supports students who experience social, emotional and mental health needs, many of whom have found it difficult to succeed in mainstream education. The setting provides a more structured and supportive environment where young people are given the time, guidance and consistency they need to re-engage with learning.
In this role, you would work closely with students throughout the school day, offering support both inside and outside of the classroom. Much of the work centres around building trust, helping students manage their emotions and behaviour, and encouraging them to take part in learning activities. Support may be provided one-to-one or within small groups, allowing staff to focus on each student’s individual needs.
The school values staff who are calm, patient and able to build positive relationships with young people who may have experienced challenges in education. Previous experience working with behaviour or SEMH needs in a school or similar setting is beneficial, although the most important quality is a genuine commitment to helping students progress.
This is a role that suits someone who is resilient, adaptable and motivated by seeing young people grow in confidence over time.
