SEMH Teaching Assistant - Greenwich

Long term contract

Are you looking for a role where patience, empathy, and resilience truly matter every single day?

We are currently working with one of our school's in Greenwich where we are not just looking for a Teaching Assistant, we are searching for someone who believes that every young person deserves to be seen, heard, and supported, especially when the world hasn’t made that easy for them.

Through Parker Smith Inclusion, we are proud to offer an opportunity to join a school community where compassion is as important as curriculum, and where your presence can become the turning point in a student’s journey.

Behind every classroom door is a story. Some students arrive carrying anxiety, unmet needs, or barriers that make learning feel out of reach. As a Teaching Assistant, you will be the steady presence that helps them re-engage, rebuild confidence, and rediscover their ability to succeed.

This is not about simply supporting lessons, it’s about building trust, unlocking potential, and creating moments of breakthrough that stay with young people long after they leave school.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supporting students both in and out of the classroom, particularly those with additional needs such as SEMH, autism, or learning differences
  • Building meaningful, consistent relationships that help students feel safe and understood
  • Working closely with teachers and pastoral teams to create an inclusive, supportive learning environment
  • Adapting approaches to meet individual needs, because no two students are the same
  • Being a calm, encouraging presence during challenging moments

Who We’re Looking For

You don’t need to have years of experience, but you do need heart.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is patient, empathetic, and genuinely committed to supporting young people
  • Understands that behaviour is communication
  • Can remain calm, resilient, and positive even on difficult days
  • Believes in inclusion, opportunity, and second chances
  • Wants a role with purpose, not just a job

Whether you’re an experienced Teaching Assistant, a graduate exploring education, or someone with transferable skills from care or youth work, your mindset matters most.

Why Join Through Parker Smith Inclusion

We do things differently.

  • We match you to a school where you can truly thrive
  • We prioritise long-term, meaningful placements
  • We support your professional growth every step of the way
  • We understand the emotional investment this role takes and we’re here for you

What You’ll Gain

  • The chance to make a genuine, daily impact
  • Experience within a supportive and inclusive secondary school
  • Opportunities to develop skills in SEND and pastoral support
  • A pathway into teaching, psychology, or specialist education roles
  • The kind of work that stays with you, for all the right reasons

Years from now, a student may not remember every lesson they sat through. But they will remember the person who didn’t give up on them. If that sounds like the kind of difference you want to make, we would love to hear from you, contact luke.conner@psinclusion.co.uk or call us on 0203 011 4848.
