A specialist school in Enfield is looking for a resilient and committed individual to join their supportive Key Stage 3 team. You will be working closely with children that have Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, many of which have experienced trauma. You will be making a difference by using a trauma informed approach to create a safe and nurturing environment that will cultivate a sense of value and belonging.
The school’s inclusive environment for students with SEMH, Autism, ADHD and other educational needs provide them with a toolkit that helps every individual child grow socially, emotionally and academically. You will also be provided with the chance to grow through enriched professional development, such as training apprenticeships and teaching pathways.
How Your Role Will Make a Difference
You will be a part of the school’s vision by being a positive, reliable and trusted presence to the students, who are learning to transform into confident individuals.
You will:
- Support KS3 students with SEMH in small groups and 1:1 during lessons.
- Engage them in learning by helping them with tasks, providing encouragement and reassurance.
- Communicate through various strategies, including verbal and non-verbal.
- Encourage social and emotional development through emotional regulation, positive behaviour and building healthy social interactions.
- Collaborate as a team with teachers, mentors and therapists to follow individual support plans.
- Promote positive self-esteem, independence and resilience.
- Create an environment that can support individuals through their next steps, as well as through moments of frustration or difficulty.
