SEMH Teaching Assistant – PRU | Stratford, East London

Salary: £100 - £110 per day
Contract: Full-time, Monday – Friday
Are you an experienced SEMH Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding role in a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU)? I am seeking a dedicated and resilient SEMH TA to support children with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs in a specialist therapeutic setting.
The Role:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs.
- Assist in delivering tailored interventions to promote emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with students to foster engagement and confidence.
- Implement de-escalation strategies and provide a nurturing learning environment.
- Work closely with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff to support each student’s progress.
Requirements:
- 2 years experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, or additional learning needs.
- A strong understanding of behaviour management and de-escalation strategies.
- Ability to build positive relationships and act as a role model.
- Resilient, patient, and calm approach to supporting students.
- Must be able to commit to a full-time role (Monday – Friday).
- Must live locally to Stratford or be able to travel easily.
