Are you passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Do you have the resilience and compassion to help secondary-aged students navigate complex behaviours, trauma, and emotional challenges?
Parker Smith Inclusion is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a forward-thinking secondary school this September. This is a full-time, long-term role supporting students with SEMH needs—some of whom may also be autistic.
About the Role:

Work closely with students aged 11–16 with significant SEMH needs and potentially additional diagnoses such as autism.

Support young people who may display challenging behaviours linked to trauma, attachment difficulties, and unmet social/emotional needs.

Build strong, trusting relationships that foster emotional safety and help pupils re-engage with education.

Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to provide individualised support.
What We’re Looking For:

Experience working with young people with SEMH, autism, or behavioural needs (in schools or alternative settings).

A calm, consistent, and empathetic approach to behaviour management.

A strong understanding of trauma-informed practice or a willingness to learn.

Resilience, patience, and a genuine passion for inclusive education.
