Parker Smith Inclusion is working with a specialist education setting in Barnet that is looking for experienced SEMH Teaching Assistants to join its team.
This school is specifically looking for people who already understand the realities of supporting pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs. They are not looking for someone taking their first step into education. They want confident, resilient support staff who can build relationships, maintain boundaries and remain calm when behaviour becomes challenging.
There is also genuine scope here for someone who has ambitions to progress towards an Unqualified Teacher position and wants to build stronger classroom experience first.
What will you be doing?

Supporting pupils with SEMH and associated behavioural needs

Building positive and consistent relationships with young people

Helping pupils remain engaged with learning

Supporting pupils individually and within small groups

Using clear boundaries and positive behaviour strategies

Supporting pupils following periods of dysregulation

Working closely with teaching and pastoral staff

Gradually taking on greater classroom responsibility where appropriate
Who are we looking for?
Essential:

Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, challenging behaviour or additional needs

Confidence managing difficult or unpredictable situations

A calm and consistent approach
