SEMH Therapeutic Learning Mentor

North London

Long-Term to Permanent Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEMH Therapeutic Learning Mentor to support pupils aged 5–16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and autism within a specialist provision in Enfield.

This is a rewarding opportunity to join a highly therapeutic setting where relationships are at the heart of learning. The pupils all have EHCPs, and they use an attachment-aware, trauma-informed approach to help children overcome barriers to education, develop emotional resilience, and achieve positive outcomes.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting pupils' social, emotional, and academic development, working closely with teaching, therapeutic, and pastoral teams to create a safe, nurturing environment where every child can thrive.

The Role

You will:

  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils who may have experienced trauma or barriers to learning.
  • Support emotional regulation, wellbeing, and engagement in education.
  • Deliver targeted interventions focused on resilience, confidence, and social skills.
  • Work closely with teaching, therapy, and safeguarding teams to provide consistent support.
  • Promote positive behaviour through therapeutic and restorative approaches.
  • Support pupils both in and out of the classroom.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, SEND, autism, behavioural, or mental health needs.
  • A background in education, youth work, mentoring, care, support work, psychology, or related fields.
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
  • A calm, patient, and nurturing approach.

What’s in It for You?

  • £100 - £120 PAYE payments per day
  • Long-term opportunities and potential for permanent roles
  • High-quality training and professional development
  • The chance to progress into higher-level support roles or teacher training
  • The rewarding experience of making a meaningful difference in a young person’s life
  • Access to onsite wellbeing facilities, including therapy dogs and gym use after school hours.
