1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant – Sutton

Our school is a vibrant and proudly inclusive independent co-educational day school for students aged 7–16 (Year 3 to Year 11), is seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join our supportive SEND team.
This role focuses on providing individualised support to a Year 9 student with visual needs, with a particular emphasis on English, Mathematics (up to GCSE level), and ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support). The ideal candidate will be proactive, empathetic, and passionate about removing barriers to learning for neurodiverse and visually impaired pupils.
Key Responsibilities:

Work closely with subject teachers and the SENCo to implement tailored support strategies.

Provide 1:1 academic and emotional support both in and outside of the classroom.

Adapt learning materials and use assistive technology to support visual accessibility.

Foster confidence, independence, and wellbeing in the student’s educational journey.
Requirements:

Strong academic grounding in English and Maths (up to GCSE level).

Previous experience supporting students with visual impairments is highly desirable.

ELSA training or experience is preferred.

This is a full-time, term-time only position (34 weeks per year), with an immediate start following a one-week trial. The role will be recruited via Parker Smith Inclusion, specialists in SEN recruitment.
