SEN Maths Teacher - Mole Valley, Surrey - September Start
£40,000 - £50,000 per annum
Interviews are arranged ASAP
You have taught the pupil who could recite times tables without hesitation, but shut the exercise book the second a question looked unfamiliar. You know that is not a maths problem. It is a trust problem, and maths just happens to be where it shows up.
A specialist school in Mole Valley, Surrey, is looking for an experienced Maths Teacher to join its department from September, working with pupils aged 7 to 16 who have Autism, ADHD, and SEMH.
Small classes and high adult-to-pupil ratios mean you would actually get to work through that trust problem with pupils, not just plan around it. You would teach alongside a Head of Maths who is building the department with exactly that in mind, and there is a genuine route toward departmental leadership yourself as you settle in and prove your approach.
Day to day, you would be:
- Adjusting lessons in real time when a pupil's confidence dips, not just when the scheme of work says to
- Working inside small groups where you know every pupil's specific triggers and strengths, not just their target grade
- Building each pupil's trust in the subject as deliberately as you build their skills
- Working closely with the Head of Maths and the wider pastoral team, so no pupil's progress happens in isolation
Qualified Teacher Status is ideal. You should already know your subject well. SEND experience is a bonus, not a requirement, provided you are genuinely willing to adapt how you teach to the pupil in front of you.
Salary is £40,000 to £50,000 per annum, depending on experience. This is a full-time, permanent role, term-time only, working 8am to 4pm.
Surrey towns, including Guildford, Leatherhead, Reigate, and Redhill, are all within reasonable travelling distance.
For a September start, get in touch as early as possible so interviews can be arranged in good time.
