We are working with a welcoming mainstream primary school in Islington who are seeking a passionate and committed SEN Teacher to lead their specialist SEN class of 7 pupils. The successful candidate will have experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Condition and a genuine understanding of inclusive practice.
This role is based in a small, nurturing SEN classroom with pupils ranging from Year 2 to Year 6. Every child in the class has ASC and communication needs, and some pupils are non-verbal, using PECS and communication boards to express themselves. Progress here isn’t rushed, it’s celebrated in the small moments, the breakthroughs, and the growing confidence of each child.
You will be supported by three dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants, who work on a rota to provide consistent, individualised support throughout the day. As the class teacher, you will lead the room, setting the tone, guiding staff, and creating a structured and safe environment where pupils feel understood and supported.
We’re looking for someone who truly understands how to teach and support children with ASC, is proactive, patient and calm even on challenging days, can confidently lead and support SEN Teaching Assistants, and believes in communication, routine, and emotional regulation as the foundation for learning.
This is a rewarding role for someone who wants to make a genuine impact, not just teach, but advocate, guide, and inspire.
