We are collaborating with a special school located in Lewisham that serves children aged 5 to 18 with social, emotional, and mental health needs, as well as Autism. The school provides a safe and nurturing learning environment. They are currently seeking an experienced and passionate teacher for their Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) class, which consists of 6 students in Years 1, 2, and 3. This group includes some students with Autism who are non-verbal.
Main Duties:
- To plan lessons and teach a class of 6 students in years 1, 2& 3 with Autism and some who are non-verbal
- To be resilient, hard-working and have an understanding of mental health and teaching neurodiverse children
- Responsibility for tracking pupil progress and monitoring to support teaching and learning
- Deliver dynamic and creative lessons
- Built positive relationships with students, parents and carers
- Experience teaching children with Autism
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Unqualified and proven experience
- Excellent communication skills
- A strong sense of empathy, patience, and resilience, with the ability to remain calm and focused in challenging situations
