SEN Teacher
Deaf & Hearing Impaired Unit | Mainstream Primary School | Kingsbury, North West London | Inner London Payscale
Do you believe that every child deserves to be heard whatever that looks like for them?
Can you plan and deliver teaching that is precise, purposeful and genuinely responsive to each child in front of you, adapting your communication, your methods and your expectations in the moment, and finding real joy in the progress that others might not even notice? Are you ready to teach in a setting where your skill, your patience and your commitment to inclusion can make a profound and lasting difference to children who experience the world differently?
If that sounds like you, an inclusive primary school in Kingsbury wants to meet you.
The Setting
This is a diverse, welcoming and genuinely inclusive mainstream primary school with a specialist Deaf and Hearing Impaired unit embedded at its heart. The children you will teach are Deaf or have a hearing impairment, and all use hearing aids or cochlear implants to access sound. Classes are small, typically ten pupils or fewer, and mixed age, with children working broadly at Year 1 level. Teaching here is precise and purposeful, informed by continuous assessment and a strong focus on core subjects, ensuring every child makes meaningful progress at a pace that is right for them. You will be part of a school community that values inclusion not just as a policy but as a lived practice, and where every member of staff plays a role in making that real.
The Role
As their new Teacher, you will lead teaching and learning within the specialist unit, planning and delivering structured, assessment-informed sessions for small groups of Deaf and hearing impaired pupils. You will drive a continuous cycle of precision teaching, using ongoing assessment to keep your practice sharp and your pupils moving forward across core subjects. You will also work collaboratively with mainstream teachers, supporting your pupils as they access the wider school curriculum alongside their hearing peers and ensuring that inclusion is meaningful rather than tokenistic. You will attend whole school training alongside your colleagues, contributing to a setting that is always striving to improve.
No two days will look the same, but your impact will be felt in every single one of them.
Who This Is For
You might be an experienced SEN or primary teacher ready to move into a more specialist role. You might be an Early Career Teacher who has always been drawn to inclusive, adaptive teaching and wants to build deep expertise from the start of your career. British Sign Language is not required. What matters far more is your ability to plan precisely, assess continuously, adapt instinctively, and build genuine relationships with children who may have faced real barriers to learning. You will need to be collaborative, reflective and deeply committed to getting the best from every pupil in your care.
Why This Role Matters
For Deaf children and those with hearing impairments, the right teacher in the right environment can be transformative. Small classes, precise teaching and a consistent, trusted adult can mean the difference between a child who struggles to keep up and one who finds their confidence, their voice, and their love of learning. If you are ready to be that teacher, we would love to hear from you.
