SEN Teacher – Barnet

Barnet, North London
M1–M6 Outer London
Full-time | Long-term

I am recruiting a SEN Teacher for a full-time role in Barnet, supporting pupils who require a more individualised approach to learning.

This would suit a teacher who enjoys adapting the curriculum, working closely with support staff and focusing on meaningful progress for pupils who may not learn successfully through a traditional classroom approach.

The right teacher will be patient, adaptable and confident creating lessons around individual starting points rather than expecting every pupil to work towards the same outcome.

The role

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and delivering differentiated lessons

  • Adapting learning to individual SEND needs

  • Creating clear and consistent classroom routines

  • Working closely with Teaching Assistants

  • Monitoring individual progress

  • Supporting pupils' communication, engagement and independence

  • Contributing towards individual plans and outcomes

  • Maintaining positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues

What I am looking for

Essential:

  • QTS or equivalent recognised teaching status

  • Previous classroom teaching experience

  • Confidence differentiating learning

  • A calm and consistent approach

  • Strong safeguarding awareness

Desirable:

  • Previous SEND teaching experience

  • Special school experience

  • Experience working with pupils significantly below age-related expectations

  • Experience supporting autism or learning needs

Why consider this role?

Teaching within SEND gives you the opportunity to look beyond traditional academic measures and focus on the progress that genuinely matters for each individual pupil.

You will have the chance to build strong relationships, understand how your pupils learn and adapt your teaching accordingly.
