About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Classroom Teacher to lead a specialist provision class for autistic children within a mainstream primary school in North West London. This is a dedicated setting, currently supported by four skilled Teaching Assistants. The role requires a teacher with a strong background in Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly autism, who can offer structured, personalised learning while working toward the ultimate goal of reintegrating students into their year-group classrooms.
This is a key position within the school’s SEN team and will suit a candidate who is confident in delivering short, targeted lessons and managing a small but diverse class with complex needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a specialist class for autistic children, supported by four experienced Teaching Assistants
- Deliver short, focused lessons and targeted interventions in:
- Develop and implement individual learning plans, addressing both communication and academic development
- Support students’ social integration and independence, with the long-term goal of reintegration into mainstream classrooms
- Liaise closely with the SENCO, senior leadership, and external professionals to monitor progress and adapt provision accordingly
The Students
- All students are autistic, with a range of needs from non-speaking to emerging language
- Mixed-age group: Year 1 to Year 4
- Wide variation in academic ability
The Ideal Candidate

- A qualified teacher with proven experience working in SEN settings, especially with children on the autism spectrum
- Confident in leading a team and providing a structured, nurturing learning environment
