Hours: (e.g. 32.5 hrs/week, 8:30am-3:30pm)
Salary: £90 - £100 PAYE

The school based in Hounslow is an ‘outstanding’ special school, providing specialist education to students aged 4 to 19 with severe learning difficulties, profound & multiple learning disabilities, autism, and complex needs.

The Role

Support classroom teachers to deliver accessible, differentiated learning for students with SEND

Provide 1:1 and small-group support tailored to individual needs

Assist with personal care, feeding, toileting, communication support and mobility as needed

Help students access the curriculum, encourage independence, and foster confidence

Monitor students’ progress and contribute to planning and review meetings

Promote a positive, inclusive learning environment and support emotional wellbeing

Work collaboratively with SENCO, therapists, behaviour support and wider staff teams
Person Specification
We are looking for someone who:
Essential:
-
Is calm, patient, resilient and adaptable
-
Has experience (or strong desire) of working with children or young people, preferably in a special school or SEND setting

Is empathetic, with excellent communication and relationship-building skills

Understands safeguarding responsibilities and child protection procedures

Is physically able to undertake all aspects of the role, including support with mobility, feeding, toileting

Shares our belief that all students are capable of making outstanding progress
Desirable:
-
Experience with autism, PMLD, communication aids (PECS, Makaton, symbols)

Knowledge of structured learning approaches or behaviour support strategies
-
Prior experience in special education, alternative provision or therapeutic settings
-
Qualifications or training in SEND, education, or related field
