Are you passionate about supporting young people with special educational needs as they transition into adulthood?
We are working with a specialist SEND setting in Enfield that is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their Post-16 provision from September 2026. This is a rewarding opportunity to support young adults with a range of needs including ASC, SLD, MLD, communication needs and associated social, emotional and mental health needs.
The Post-16 provision focuses on developing independence, life skills, employability skills and community engagement, preparing learners for life beyond education in a meaningful and supportive way.
About the Role
- Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to ensure all students can access the curriculum.
- Support lessons across a broad range of subjects, including Functional Skills English and Maths, communication skills, independent living skills, travel training, employability and work experience, supported internships and vocational learning
- Join students one day per week on work experience, helping them develop real-world skills and employability.
- Encourage students to build confidence, resilience, and independence.
- Assist teachers in managing classrooms, preparing resources, and delivering lessons.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and external agencies to meet students’ educational, social, and emotional needs.
- Support students in developing life skills and preparing for adulthood, including independence and future pathways.
About You
- Have experience supporting young people with SEND, either in education or care settings.
- Have a strong understanding of ASC, ADHD, learning difficulties, and speech and language needs.
- Demonstrate patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to making a difference.
- Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Are creative, flexible, and confident when working with young adults with complex needs.
