SEN Teaching Assistant
£450 Per Week PAYE
London Borough of Greenwich
Are you a compassionate and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a fulfilling role where you can truly make a difference in the lives of children with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs?
Do you have a background in supporting children with SEMH needs and helping them find calm and stability in school or youth work settings?
I’m currently working with an excellent and nurturing SEMH secondary school in the London Borough of Newham that is searching for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant who understands the unique challenges these students face.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to work one-on-one with a pupil who needs support with challenging behaviour. You will help the pupil feel more settled and secure so that they can focus on learning.
We are looking for someone who is not only strong and resilient but also deeply empathetic—a role model who can inspire and guide these students toward their best selves. Your contribution could truly improve their educational experience.
Requirements of a SEN Teaching Assistant
- Experience with challenging behaviour—This role would really suit someone who has worked in a PRU or SEMH school, as a Pastoral Officer in a school, or as a youth worker with experience with challenging behaviour.
- Experience working to support pupils with physically and emotionally challenging behaviour
- A resilient personality and an ability to build rapport quickly with staff and students.
- De-escalation training would be a bonus for this role; however, the school also provides specialised de-escalation training.
- An interest in mental health and seeing behaviour as a form of communication is essential for this role.e
What to expect as a SEN Teaching Assistant
