1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Hounslow, West London
Salary: £90 – £100 per day PAYE

About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist educational provision in Hounslow. In this role, you will be working on a 1:1 basis with students who have a range of additional needs, including ASC (Autism Spectrum Condition), SpLD (Specific Learning Difficulties), and SLCN (Speech, Language and Communication Needs).

Key Responsibilities

Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support for students with SEN, particularly those with ASC, SpLD, and SLCN.

Support the development of speech, language, and communication skills through targeted strategies.

Assist with literacy and numeracy interventions for pupils with specific learning difficulties.

Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and resilience.

Work closely with the class teacher and wider team to support lesson delivery and EHCP targets.

Contribute to a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.

Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and external professionals to ensure joined-up support.
Requirements

Previous experience supporting children or young people with ASC, SpLD, or SLCN.

A patient, empathetic, and consistent approach to behaviour and learning support.

Strong communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships.

Good literacy and numeracy skills.

Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
Desirable Skills and Experience

Experience in specialist SEN schools, alternative provisions, or therapy-based settings.

Knowledge of speech and language strategies or communication aids such as PECS or Makaton.

Familiarity with structured interventions for children with SpLD.
-
A background in youth work, care, or psychology-based roles.

Resilient, proactive, and able to adapt to different needs.
