SEN Teaching Assistant – Build Confidence, Create Progress

Full-Time | Term-Time Only | Long-Term Opportunity

Some roles offer routine. This one offers responsibility, influence, and the chance to be part of something that genuinely works.

We are working with a specialist education setting to recruit a SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including autism and communication needs. This is a setting where structure, consistency, and high expectations are balanced with understanding and care.

Pupils are supported to develop confidence, independence, and the skills they need for learning and life beyond the classroom. Staff work closely together, take time to understand individual needs, and adapt their approach so every child can make progress in a way that is right for them.

This is a role for someone who wants to be involved, relied upon, and trusted to make a daily impact.

The Role

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils across the school day through one-to-one and small group support, working closely with teachers and specialist staff.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting pupils with SEND and autism in the classroom
  • Assisting with personalised learning and communication strategies
  • Promoting emotional regulation, independence, and engagement
  • Helping to maintain a calm, structured, and inclusive environment
  • Building positive, professional relationships with pupils

This role requires patience, adaptability, and a genuine commitment to inclusive education.

Who This Role Suits

This role is ideal for:

  • Experienced or aspiring SEN Teaching Assistants
  • Graduates in psychology, education, or related subjects
  • Candidates with backgrounds in care, youth work, or support roles
  • Individuals who communicate calmly and work well as part of a team

Experience supporting children with SEND or autism is desirable but not essential.

Why Apply

This is a setting that invests in its staff. You will receive guidance, training, and the opportunity to grow professionally while contributing to meaningful outcomes for pupils.

You will be part of a team where your role is valued and where progress is built through consistency and collaboration.
