£93 to £98 PAYE per day, paid weekly
Can you tell the difference between a child who's about to have a good day and one who isn't, before they've said a word? Can you sit beside a young person who communicates through sound, movement and eye contact, and know exactly what they're asking for?

About the school
This is a specialist school in South West London for pupils aged 4 to 19 with autism, severe learning difficulties and profound and multiple learning difficulties. Every pupil holds an EHCP. Classes are small, with a high adult-to-child ratio, so support is tailored to each individual rather than the group.
The role
As a Teaching Assistant, you'll support communication, personal care and sensory needs across the school day. Sensory and water-based activities are a regular part of the timetable, and you'll be working closely with class teachers and therapists throughout. Most sessions are one-to-one or small group, so you'll get to know the pupils you support properly, not from a distance.
Who this suits
SEND experience is a must (this can be personal experience). What matters is patience, consistency and a genuine interest in learning how each child communicates. Graduates in psychology, education, or a related field often find this role a natural fit, as do people coming from care, support work, or mentoring backgrounds. If you're weighing up whether your current role is actually using what you're good at, this is worth a proper look.
