A welcoming and inclusive school in Tower Hamlets is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team. The school is committed to providing a nurturing environment where every student can thrive, regardless of their individual needs. Through a personalised and engaging curriculum, the school supports pupils aged 5-19 with a range of additional needs, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language difficulties, and moderate learning difficulties.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping students access learning, develop confidence, and build essential life skills. Working closely with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff, you will contribute to creating meaningful educational experiences tailored to each pupil's needs.
About the Role
- Support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs both in and out of the classroom
- Deliver targeted 1:1 and small group interventions to support learning, communication, and social development
- Implement strategies outlined in EHCPs and behaviour support plans
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes independence and confidence
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and families to ensure the best outcomes for pupils
- Assist with personal care where required and support students with their daily routines
About You
- A caring, patient, and resilient individual with a genuine passion for supporting young people with SEND
- Experience working with children or young people with additional needs, either in education, care, youth work, or support settings
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families
- Understanding of Autism, ADHD, SEMH, or other SEND needs is desirable
- A qualification in Education, Psychology, Child Development, Health & Social Care, or a related field would be advantageous
- A proactive team player who is committed to helping every child reach their potential
