We are working in partnership with an ‘Outstanding’ SEN school located in the London Borough of Redbridge. The school is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join their friendly and supportive team. This position is full-time (term-time only) and to start immediately.

- Working Hours: 8:30am – 4:30pm on Monday, 8:30am – 3:45pm Tuesday to Thursday, and 8:30am – 3:30pm on Friday

- Supporting children and young people aged between 11 and 19 with Autism/ASC and Severe to Profound Multiple Learning Difficulties (SLD/PMLD)
- Proactively engaging and interacting with children and young people through play-based and sensory related activities in classroom settings
- Providing a creative and fun learning environment
- Making positive impacts on children and young people’s lives!
Ideal Candidate:
- Has experience working with children and young people with special needs
- Has personal interests in supporting children and young people with special needs
- A positive, proactive and patient individual who has a can-do attitude and is willing to learn
- A team player and has great communication skills
- Being able to build up good working relationships with students and staff
Main Responsibilities:
- Supporting children with Autism/ASC, complex needs and Severe to Profound Multiple Learning Difficulties (SLD/PMLD)
- Assisting the class teacher with planning, preparing and delivering learning activities as well as monitoring and assessing children’s achievement and progress
- Actively involved in a wide range of activities, promoting the physical, cognitive, cultural, social and emotional wellbeing of the pupils
- Actively interacting with children through play-based and sensory related activities
Some of our students are non-verbal and with such a wide range of learning difficulties. Students are supported by a multidisciplinary team including Physiotherapists, Art Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Speech and Language Therapists. Some students may also have physical disabilities and are wheelchair users. Being able to use Makaton (sign language) or PECs are ideal. Personal Care (feeding and toileting) and hydrotherapy are required as this is a part of the job.
