I am working with a fantastic SEN school in the borough of Redbridge who are seeking an ambitious SEN Teaching Assistant to join them in the new academic year. This school caters for students with ASD (Autism), SEMH (Social Emotional Mental Health), medical needs, physical disabilities, sensory impairments and associated complex behaviour.
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be supporting EYFS, KS1 and KS2 with potential to move towards the upper school.
This school offers a creative and tailored curriculum to each individual student and prepared them for adult life. They pride themselves in the positive relationships that are formed throughout the school. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be welcomed into a highly inclusive working environment where wellbeing is at the heart of everything they do. The school is home to a hydrotherapy pool and multiple sensory areas – you will be expected to take part in all aspects of hydrotherapy and sensory play.
Requirements of a SEN Teaching Assistant
- The perfect SEN Teaching Assistant should be passionate about supporting young people with complex SEN and medical needs/disabilities
- Experience supporting needs of this complexity would be ideal, however a Teaching Assistant who has knowledge of a variety of SEN and is willing to get stuck in is desirable
- A SEN Teaching Assistant must be able to build and maintain positive relationships with students and staff
- Is able to set professional boundaries whilst following the schools code of conduct
- The SEN Teaching Assistant must support other TA’s with intimate care
- Goes above and beyond to change the lives of young people
- SEN Teaching Assistant should see SEN as a valuable career opportunity
