SEN Teaching Assistant - Kingston Upon Thames
- ASAP start, long-term full-time contract, 8:30am - 4pm
- £93 - £98 PAYE per day
Interviews arranged ASAP
Can you read a room of children with autism and severe learning difficulties well enough to change the outcome before they are dysregulated?
If you are already working as a SEN Teaching Assistant, ask yourself honestly: Does your current role support you and challenge you? Too many talented Teaching Assistants are providing skilled, demanding SEND support work in settings that don't align with their commitment. This long-term, full-time SEN Teaching Assistant position in Kingston upon Thames supports pupils with ASC, SLD and PMLD in a school rated Outstanding by Ofsted, with proper training, a clear team structure and daily rates that reflect the job's actual demands.
This is a specialist school in Kingston upon Thames, often described as caring and nurturing, where children are happy, and staff are genuinely happy to see them every morning. The school supports children from EYFS through to 19 years old, all with EHCPs across ASC, SLD and PMLD needs. Pupils have access to on-site occupational therapy, physiotherapy and speech and language therapy, with teaching staff building learning around the individual rather than fitting pupils to a fixed curriculum. Leadership here is genuinely ambitious, and students frequently achieve and surpass the outcomes set out in their EHCPs. Staff wellbeing is treated as seriously as pupil wellbeing here, not as an afterthought.
What you will be doing:
- Delivering 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with ASC, SLD and PMLD, working to the targets set out in each pupil's EHCP
- Providing personal care and supporting pupils during hydrotherapy sessions as part of the daily routine
- Working alongside teachers, therapists and the wider team to put personalised learning plans into practice
- Using Positive Behaviour Support strategies to keep pupils regulated, safe and ready to learn
- Supporting pupils' communication, independence and emotional development throughout the school day
Who should apply:
- You are comfortable and confident providing personal care and hydrotherapy support. This is essential for the role
- You have experience working with pupils with ASC, SLD or PMLD, whether in a school, care or therapeutic setting
- You're an experienced Teaching Assistant looking for a long-term role in a friendly and creative specialist school
- You hold a relevant degree, such as psychology, education or social work, and want to build a career in SEND
- You're a career changer from nursing, care work or support work, with the patience and resilience this role demands
Why apply:
- A long-term, full-time position with guaranteed daily rates of £93 - £98 PAYE, paid weekly
- A placement in a school with strong leadership and genuine investment in staff
- Free CPD and training through Parker Smith Inclusion, including SEND-specific courses
- A dedicated PSI consultant looking after your booking, your pay and your next move, not just this one
- A clear route into permanent employment for TAs who want a long-term career in SEND
Parker Smith Inclusion is a specialist SEND recruitment consultancy. We work exclusively in special educational needs and disabilities, so every consultant here understands the difference between a PMLD classroom and an ASC provision, and recruits accordingly. We've built our name on doing this properly: fair pay, honest communication and no surprises. Over 400 candidates have left us five-star reviews on Google, we work with more than 300 schools, and we've placed over 1,500 educators into roles they've stayed in. Every candidate we place is paid PAYE, directly, with no umbrella companies and no hidden deductions. We only work on long-term and permanent placements, because SEND pupils need consistency, and so do the people supporting them.
This role needs someone in post as soon as possible, and interviews are being arranged straightaway. Call Heeji Moon at Parker Smith Inclusion on 0203 011 4848, reply directly to this advert, or apply now at psinclusion.co.uk.
