SEN Teaching Assistants – Barnet

We are collaborating with a welcoming and established special school in the London Borough of Barnet. The school supports children aged 11-19 with SEMH needs.
No prior professional experience in a school is necessary. Personal experience, volunteering, or just a genuine interest in supporting children with special needs is enough. What matters most is your empathy, dedication, and desire to make a positive impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Support students with autism and complex needs, including behavioural challenges
- Assist in classroom activities with one-to-one or small group support
- Help implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour strategies
- Provide personal care support as needed
- Create a safe, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment
- Work closely with teachers and the SENCO to help students progress
- Participate in trial days during the recruitment process
Requirements
- Experience with children with SEN is preferred but not essential
- Patient, empathetic, and proactive attitude
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Passion for helping children learn and thrive
- Relevant qualifications (CACHE Level 2/3, Teaching Assistant certificate) are desirable but not required)
- Enhanced DBS check or willingness to obtain one
- Training in positive handling, early intervention, and personal care is an advantage
