A highly specialist SEN school in Brent is looking for a Therapy Assistant (SEN) to join their on-site multidisciplinary team. This school supports children and young people aged 3–19 with autism (ASC), complex needs, speech and language difficulties, and physical disabilities, offering a structured and therapeutic learning environment.

This Therapy Assistant role is ideal for graduates and aspiring Occupational Therapists (OT), Speech and Language Therapists (SaLT), Educational Psychologists, or experienced SEND Teaching Assistants looking to build long-term careers in SEN schools.

Working alongside qualified therapists and teaching staff, you will support pupils with communication, sensory regulation, independence skills, and access to learning, delivering targeted SALT and OT-based interventions in both classroom and therapy settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver 1:1 and small group therapy interventions in a SEN school setting

  • Support pupils with autism, sensory processing needs, and communication difficulties

  • Use AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication), PECS, visual timetables, and sensory strategies

  • Support and implement EHCP targets and therapy programmes

  • Track and record pupil progress, engagement, and outcomes

  • Work closely with Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, teachers, and SENCOs

  • Support pupils’ emotional regulation, independence, and social communication skills

Requirements

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND, autism, or complex needs

  • Background as a Teaching Assistant, Support Worker, Youth Worker, or Care Worker is desirable

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

  • Patient, resilient, and proactive approach

  • Passion for SEN education, therapy, psychology, or child development
