SEN Youth Worker
Location: Tower Hamlets
Pay: Up to £25,000 per annum
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Start: January 2025
We are looking for a resilient and motivated Youth Worker to work in an independent PRU for KS4 students, in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.
You will be working alongside teachers in supporting students with their learning and behavioural needs. Being resilient, calm and having a good sense of humour are good qualities to have, whilst being able to use your initiative.
The schools’ staff team takes pride in providing a high-quality, personalised, inclusive and inspiring education to all pupils.
Key responsibilities:
- Supervise and support pupils
- Build constructive relationships with pupils and interact with them according to their individual needs
- Provide feedback to pupils in relation to progress and achievements
- Use strategies, in liaison with the teacher, to support pupils to achieve learning goals
- Assist with the planning of learning activities
- Provide feedback to teachers on pupils’ progress, achievements and problems
The Candidate we’re looking for:
- Experience working in a school setting and supporting students with SEMH
- Will give a firm yet caring approach
- Excellent communication skills (Verbally and Written)
- Able to work constructively as part of a team, understanding classroom roles and responsibilities
- Emotional resilience when working with dysregulated behaviour
- Strong understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Relevant qualifications in Youth Work, Teaching Assistance, or Education are advantageous but not essential if supported by experience.
