SENCO – Lead Inclusion | Part-Time Maternity Cover

Location: West London
Rate: £235–£332 per day PAYE
Contract: Maternity cover | 3 days per week
Start Date: January 2027
Working Pattern: Non-teaching | Flexible days

Are you an experienced SEND professional looking for your next leadership opportunity without the demands of a full-time teaching timetable?

Parker Smith Inclusion is working with a mainstream primary school in West London seeking a confident SENCO to lead and coordinate SEND provision during maternity cover.

This is a non-teaching position, working three days per week, with flexibility over your working days and support from the senior leadership team. You’ll have the opportunity to focus on what matters: strengthening provision, supporting staff and helping pupils with additional needs access the right support.

About the School and Role

The school supports children with a range of additional needs, including autism, speech and language difficulties, and cognition and learning needs. You’ll oversee SEND provision across the school, including a small specialist resource base, working closely with teachers, support staff, families and external professionals.

On-site parking is available, and consecutive working days are preferred.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Coordinating SEND provision, EHCPs and annual reviews.

  • Advising teachers on inclusive classroom practice and appropriate pupil support.

  • Supporting teaching assistants and the specialist resource base team.

  • Working with parents, carers and external professionals to improve outcomes.

  • Helping staff identify needs and implement effective support strategies.

  • Maintaining oversight of SEND processes and ensuring provision reflects pupils’ individual needs.

Who We’re Looking For

You’ll need QTS alongside SENCO experience or a strong background in SEND coordination. You should have a good understanding of the SEND Code of Practice, EHCP processes and the practical challenges schools face when supporting pupils with additional needs.

You’ll also be confident advising colleagues, working with families and helping staff deliver inclusive provision.

Previous SENCO experience would be ideal, but an experienced Assistant SENCO ready to take the next step will also be considered.

The NASENCO qualification does not need to have been completed for the right candidate, subject to the applicable statutory qualification requirements and the responsibilities of the post.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

  • £235–£332 per day PAYE.

  • Three days per week, with flexibility over working days.

  • Non-teaching role, allowing you to focus on SEND leadership.

  • January 2027 start.

  • Maternity cover within a mainstream primary school.

  • Opportunity to lead provision and make a meaningful difference to pupils, staff and families.
