SENCO – Shape Inclusion - Lead Provision - Maternity Cover
Location: West London
Rate: £235–£332 per day PAYE
Contract: Maternity Cover | 3 Days per Week
Start Date: January 2027
Working Pattern: Non-Teaching | Flexible Working Days
What if your next SENCO role gave you the opportunity to focus on inclusion, influence whole-school practice and make a lasting difference – without being tied to a full-time teaching timetable?
Parker Smith Inclusion is partnering with a mainstream primary school in West London to find an experienced SENCO or ambitious Assistant SENCO ready to take ownership of its SEND provision during a maternity cover.
This is an opportunity to step into a genuine leadership position, where your knowledge, judgement and ability to bring people together will help shape the experience of pupils with additional needs across the school.
Working three days per week, you'll have the space to concentrate on strategic SEND leadership, support colleagues and ensure pupils receive the provision they need to thrive.
And importantly, this is a completely non-teaching position.
More Than Managing SEND – Making Inclusion Happen
The school supports pupils with a variety of needs, including autism, speech and language difficulties, and cognition and learning needs. You will have oversight of provision across the school, including a small specialist resource base.
You'll work alongside the senior leadership team, teachers, teaching assistants, families and external professionals, helping turn individual needs into meaningful support and better outcomes.
What Will Your Impact Look Like?
-
Taking the lead on SEND coordination, EHCPs and annual reviews.
-
Ensuring pupils receive appropriate support and their provision is regularly reviewed.
-
Helping teachers develop inclusive classroom strategies and adapt their practice.
-
Providing guidance and direction to teaching assistants and the specialist resource base team.
-
Building positive relationships with parents, carers and external professionals.
-
Supporting colleagues with identifying additional needs and putting effective interventions in place.
-
Maintaining strong oversight of SEND processes, documentation and statutory responsibilities.
You'll be someone who can look at the bigger picture while remaining connected to the everyday challenges faced by pupils, families and school staff.
The Person Behind the Role
We're interested in speaking with professionals who combine strong SEND knowledge with the confidence to influence others.
You'll ideally have:
-
QTS and experience within a SEND leadership or coordination position.
-
Previous SENCO experience, or substantial experience as an Assistant SENCO.
-
A strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice, EHCPs and annual review processes.
-
The confidence to advise teachers, support staff and senior leaders.
-
Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships with families and external agencies.
-
A practical, solution-focused approach to inclusion and pupil development.
An Assistant SENCO looking to take the next step into a leadership position is very much encouraged to apply.
The NASENCO qualification is not essential for consideration at application stage, although the successful candidate must meet the applicable statutory qualification requirements for the post.
