Are you a SENCo ready to take your next step into a dynamic and fulfilling role?

We are seeking an exceptional SENCO to join a large primary school in the London Borough of Waltham Forest  This is not a typical primary SENCO role. Due to the scale of the school, the post operates at a strategic leadership level, similar to a secondary model, with a focus on systems, impact, and leadership rather than day-to-day intervention. We are looking for a SEN leader who can hit the ground running.

 

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Direction

  • Lead and develop the school’s inclusion strategy

  • Ensure high-quality provision for approximately 50 pupils with EHCPs

  • Maintain SEN provision every day

Statutory Leadership

  • Oversee EHCP applications, reviews, and compliance

  • Ensure all statutory duties are met accurately and confidently

Team Leadership

  • Line-manage and deploy a large team of LSAs and support staff

  • Drive efficiency, impact, and value for money across SEN provision

Staff Development

  • Train and support teachers and LSAs in:

    Early identification of SEN
  • Effective classroom and targeted provision

Safeguarding

  • Act as a Designated Safeguarding Officer

  • Be a key member of the school’s child protection team

Collaboration

  • Work in close partnership with senior leaders to drive school improvement

  • Contribute to whole-school leadership and strategic decision-making

You will-

  • Hold the NASENCO, or NPQ SENCo

  • Have significant experience in SEN leadership, including complex statutory processes

  • Be confident operating at a strategic and systems level

  • Be resilient, organised, and comfortable managing a demanding leadership role

  • While this is a primary setting, we welcome candidates with secondary experience who can apply their strategic SEN expertise across nursery- KS2
