Pay: £95–£105 per day PAYE

Contract: Full-time, term-time only

Some children need more than support with their learning.

They need someone who takes the time to understand them, celebrates their achievements and helps them feel safe, valued and included.

Parker Smith Inclusion is working in partnership with a specialist SEND school in Chelmsford, supporting children and young people aged 3–19 with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD).

The school has been thoughtfully designed around the needs of its pupils, providing a safe, engaging and nurturing environment where every child can learn, communicate and develop in their own way.

With a strong child-centred approach, the team understands that progress looks different for every pupil. Whether it's developing communication, gaining independence or engaging in a new activity, every achievement matters.

This is an opportunity for a compassionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join a supportive team and make a genuine difference to the lives of children and young people with complex needs.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you'll work closely with pupils, teachers, therapists and other support staff to help children access learning, develop essential life skills and reach their individual potential.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Providing personalised 1:1 and small-group support.

  • Supporting communication, engagement and learning through creative, accessible activities.

  • Helping pupils develop independence, confidence and everyday life skills.

  • Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and colleagues to support individual learning outcomes.

  • Providing personal care where required, always maintaining dignity and respect.

  • Creating a calm, structured and nurturing environment where pupils feel safe.

  • Building trusting relationships and adapting your approach to each child's individual needs.

  • Celebrating progress and recognising the small steps that can make a big difference.

Who Would Suit This Role?

We're looking for someone who understands the importance of patience, consistency and meaningful relationships when supporting children with additional needs.

Ideally, you'll be:

  • Caring, empathetic and patient.

  • A natural relationship-builder who enjoys supporting children and young people.

  • Reliable, resilient and comfortable working as part of a team.

  • Willing to learn and develop your understanding of specialist SEND.

  • Adaptable and able to respond to individual communication and learning needs.

  • Passionate about helping every child feel valued and reach their potential.

Previous experience in SEND, education, care or support work would be beneficial, but the right attitude, compassion and willingness to learn are just as important.

What's on Offer?

  • £95–£105 per day PAYE.

  • An ASAP start within a specialist SEND setting.

  • Full-time, term-time-only working.

  • Ongoing training and professional development.

  • A welcoming and supportive team.

  • The opportunity to develop your knowledge of SLD, PMLD and complex needs.

  • A rewarding role where your work makes a genuine difference every day.

  • The opportunity to build a long-term career within specialist SEND education.
