SEND Learning Support Assistant
September Start | Barking and Dagenham
Temp to Perm | Primary Setting
Not every LSA role is about simply supporting learning. Some are about helping children find their place in school again.
A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Barking and Dagenham is looking for a SEND Learning Support Assistant to join them from September. This is a school that genuinely prioritises its pupils’ individual needs, with well thought out provision, strong SEN leadership, and a calm, purposeful environment.
You will be supporting children both one to one and in small groups, working with pupils with a range of additional needs including autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, and some SEMH presentations. The focus here is not just academic. It is about helping pupils feel safe, understood, and able to engage in their learning.
Day to day, you will be:
Supporting pupils to access learning in a way that works for them
Using structure, routine, and communication strategies to aid engagement
Working closely with class teachers and the SENCo to adapt approaches
Encouraging confidence, independence, and positive social interaction
The school is looking for someone who is calm, consistent, and emotionally aware. Someone who understands that progress can look different for every child. Whether you already have SEND experience or are looking to build a career in this area, the key thing is the right attitude and a genuine interest in supporting children with additional needs.
This is a temp to perm opportunity, making it ideal for someone looking to find the right school long term rather than just a short term role.
What the school offers
A supportive and experienced SEN team
A well resourced, child centred environment
Ongoing training and development opportunities
Clear pathways to grow within the school
