SEND Learning Support Assistant
September Start | Barking and Dagenham
Temp to Perm | Primary Setting

Some Learning Support Assistant roles are about more than supporting learning. They are about helping children feel safe, rebuild confidence, and re-engage with education.

A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Barking and Dagenham is looking for a SEND Learning Support Assistant to join from September. This is a school that genuinely prioritises the needs of its pupils, with strong SEND leadership, clear systems in place, and a calm and purposeful learning environment.

You will be supporting pupils on a one to one basis and in small groups, working with children with a range of additional needs including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and SEMH profiles. The focus is not only academic progress, but also emotional development, confidence building, and engagement in school life.

In this role you will
Support pupils to access learning in a way that meets their individual needs
Use structure, routine, and communication strategies to support engagement
Work closely with teachers and the SENCO to adapt learning approaches
Help pupils develop confidence, independence, and positive social interaction skills

The school is looking for someone who is calm, consistent, and emotionally resilient. Someone who understands that progress looks different for every child and is committed to supporting small but meaningful steps forward. Previous SEND experience is helpful but not essential. The most important factor is the right mindset and a genuine interest in supporting children with additional needs.

This is a temp to perm opportunity, ideal for someone looking for long term stability and the chance to become part of a supportive and well structured school environment.

What the school offers
A supportive and experienced SEND team
A well resourced and child centred environment
Ongoing training and development opportunities
Clear pathways for progression within the school
