SEND Learning Support Assistant
Barking & Dagenham | September 2026 Start
Long-Term Opportunity | Temp to Perm | Primary School
Not every classroom success is measured by test scores.
For some children, success means feeling understood, staying regulated throughout the day, joining in with peers, or simply feeling confident enough to try.
A nurturing and highly supportive primary school in Barking & Dagenham is searching for a compassionate SEND Learning Support Assistant to join their team from September. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a school that genuinely values inclusion and invests heavily in supporting both pupils and staff.
You will work closely with children with a range of additional needs including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, and speech and language needs. The role will involve both 1:1 and small group support, helping pupils access learning while encouraging confidence, independence, and emotional wellbeing.
The ideal candidate will:
• Be patient, calm, and consistent in their approach
• Have a genuine passion for supporting children with SEND
• Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
• Support emotional regulation and classroom engagement
• Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO, and external professionals
Previous SEND experience is welcomed, but the school is equally open to candidates with transferable skills, the right attitude, and a strong desire to learn.
What makes this school stand out?
• Strong and experienced SEND leadership team
• Inclusive and child-centred ethos
• Excellent staff support and training opportunities
• Calm and structured learning environment
• Opportunity to secure a permanent role
This position would suit someone looking for a meaningful long-term role where they can genuinely make a difference every day.
