Teaching Maths in a SEND setting is about more than delivering a curriculum. It's about recognising when a student needs a different approach, adapting your teaching in the moment, and finding creative ways to help young people engage with learning when education hasn't always felt accessible to them.
If you're a Maths Teacher who thrives on building relationships, thinking flexibly, and helping students overcome barriers, this could be the opportunity you've been looking for.
We are supporting a specialist school in South West London that provides education for pupils aged 7–16 with Autism and associated needs. Many students have experienced challenges in previous educational settings and benefit from a highly personalised, therapeutic approach to learning.
With small class sizes and excellent staffing ratios, teachers are able to focus on what matters most: understanding individual learners and helping them make meaningful progress.
The Role
You will deliver engaging and differentiated Maths lessons, adapting learning to meet a wide range of needs and abilities. Alongside academic progress, you'll support students' confidence, independence, communication, and emotional development.
Working closely with therapists, support staff, and families, you'll be part of a collaborative team committed to helping every student achieve success.
We're Looking For Someone Who:
-
Holds QTS
-
Has experience supporting students with SEND, Autism, or additional needs
-
Can adapt teaching to meet individual learning profiles
-
Builds strong relationships with students and families
-
Is confident supporting pupils who may present with behaviours that challenge
-
Has a patient, resilient, and nurturing approach
A SEND qualification is desirable but not essential, and teachers transitioning from mainstream settings with relevant SEND experience are encouraged to apply.
Why Apply?
This is a school where staff are supported, collaboration is valued, and student wellbeing sits alongside academic achievement.
If you're looking for a Maths teaching role where you can have a genuine impact on young people's lives while continuing to develop your own practice, we'd love to hear from you.
