I’m currently recruiting for a specialist primary setting in Hertfordshire looking for a SEND Primary Teacher to join their team on a maternity cover basis.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for leading a class and creating a learning environment where pupils with additional needs can feel safe, supported and encouraged to achieve.

You’ll plan individualised programmes around pupils’ EHCP outcomes, deliver a broad and engaging curriculum, assess progress and adapt your approach to meet different learning needs.

Alongside teaching, you’ll work closely with LSAs, families and other professionals, ensuring everyone is working towards the same goals.

The setting supports primary-aged pupils with a range of additional needs, including learning difficulties, autism and speech and language difficulties.

Learning extends beyond the classroom, with pupils able to take part in activities such as swimming, PE and trampolining as part of the wider curriculum.

Your Responsibilities

• Lead and teach a class of pupils with SEND

• Plan personalised learning programmes linked to EHCP outcomes

• Monitor, assess and celebrate pupil progress

• Prepare reports and contribute to Annual Reviews

• Provide pastoral support and promote pupils’ wellbeing

• Work closely with parents, carers and external professionals

• Line manage and support a small team of LSAs

• Contribute to curriculum planning and development

• Maintain accurate records of pupils’ learning and achievement

• Support wider school activities and professional development

You may already have experience within SEND, but we’re also interested in teachers who are looking to develop their specialist practice and have the right attitude, resilience and commitment.

Most importantly, you’ll be someone who can see the individual behind the needs and adapt your teaching to help each pupil succeed.
