This school caters for Year 7 - 13 for students that needs cannot be met in mainstream setting, they will be learning a secondary curriculum but can be adapted to each child's learning ability. They do not condone physical intervention and purely focus on the communication between you and the student to be able to de-escalate, encourage movement breaks, and a trauma informed approach.
We are seeking a candidate that has hands on experience with epilepsy (training desired not essential) but it's important that you have been in situations where you've had to intervene when a seizure has occurred, be able to act quickly and understand the triggers that can cause a seizure. Other experience desired;
- Experience within a school setting
- Experience with moderate learning difficulties, sensory difficulties and dysregulated behaviours
- Ability to stay calm and focused in heighetend scenarios
- Be open minded and meet students where they are at, not where you expect them to be
- Be humble
- Proactive, positive and professional
- Consistent and reliable
- Strong boundaries
- Fantastic communication skills
