Are you a patient, reflective teacher who is passionate about inclusive education and supporting pupils with complex needs?
A specialist SEND school in North London is seeking a dedicated SEN Teacher to join their experienced and supportive team. The school provides education for children and young people with PMLD, alongside physical disabilities, communication differences, and significant developmental needs.
Teaching within this setting is centred on a highly personalised, sensory-informed curriculum. Staff work closely with therapists, support staff, and families to ensure each pupil receives the right balance of structure, care, and opportunity to progress. The focus is on communication, emotional regulation, independence, and enabling pupils to experience success in ways that are meaningful to them.
The Role
You will be teaching a small class of pupils with complex needs, supported by experienced teaching assistants and specialist staff. Strong staffing ratios allow teachers to take a creative, flexible, and child-centred approach, adapting learning to suit each pupil’s abilities, interests, and sensory profile.
The role involves:

Planning and delivering personalised learning experiences

Using sensory resources, visuals, routines, and therapeutic approaches

Supporting communication development and emotional regulation

Working collaboratively with therapists, support staff, and families

Creating a calm, safe, and nurturing classroom environment
The Ideal Candidate
This role would suit a teacher who:

Has experience working with pupils with complex needs and/or PMLD, or a strong interest in this area

Is patient, adaptable, and reflective in their practice

Is open to using sensory-based and therapeutic teaching approaches
