Pay: £186.73-£276.64 per day
Job Description:
SEND Teacher
Primary Specialist Setting | West London
£186.73 – £276.64 per day PAYE (depending on experience)
Full-time | Long-term
Start date: ASAP or next half term
This role is not about ticking boxes. It is about changing the shape of a child’s day.
This SEND Teacher role is for someone who understands that progress does not always look like neat handwriting or quiet classrooms. Sometimes progress looks like trust, emotional regulation, communication where there was silence, or a child staying in the room when yesterday they could not.
The setting supports primary-aged children with a range of additional needs, including Autism/ASC, SEMH, ADHD, speech and language needs, sensory processing differences and learning difficulties. Many pupils have experienced disrupted education and require adults who are calm, reflective and emotionally intelligent.
This is not a mainstream classroom with a few adaptations added on. This is a specialist environment where teaching is built around the child, not the timetable.
The Setting (without the labels)
- Small class sizes with high adult support
- Pupils with Autism/ASC, SEMH, ADHD, SLD and communication needs
- A strong focus on emotional regulation, sensory needs and relational safety
- Teaching approaches informed by trauma, attachment and neurodiversity
- Structure, predictability and flexibility working side by side
The Role
As the SEN Teacher, you will:
- Plan and deliver meaningful, accessible learning tailored to individual needs
- Create a calm, regulated classroom environment where pupils feel safe to learn
- Use adaptive teaching strategies rather than one-size-fits-all lessons
- Work closely with support staff, therapists and external professionals
- Support pupils who may be dysregulated, anxious, or emotionally overwhelmed
- Celebrate progress that is academic, emotional, social and communicative
- Model consistency, warmth and clear boundaries throughout the day
Day-to-Day Reality (Honest and Important)
This role can be emotionally demanding. Some pupils communicate distress through behaviour. Some days will feel heavy. Progress can be slow and non-linear.
This role suits teachers who are grounded, reflective and able to regulate themselves before trying to regulate a child. It does not suit those looking for an “easier” teaching role or a temporary stopgap.
Who Thrives in This Role
This role is right for you if:
- You have genuine SEND experience, professionally or personally
- You are emotionally intelligent, resilient and reflective
- You value relationships as the foundation of learning
- You are curious about behaviour rather than reactive to it
- You are committed to SEND education, not just exploring it
This role is not suitable for teachers without meaningful SEND exposure or those seeking a short-term classroom trial.
What Is Offered
- Full-time, long-term role with consistency and support
- A collaborative, specialist team environment
- Ongoing guidance from a SEND specialist recruitment consultancy
- Transparent, ethical recruitment with PAYE only
