Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant – SEMH / Autism Support
Location: Barnet, North London

Job Type: Full-time only

Help Change a Child’s Experience of School

Are you a SEND Teaching Assistant with school-based experience looking for a role where your support genuinely matters?

We are a specialist SEND education agency working with schools across Barnet, supporting pupils with Autism, SEMH and additional learning needs. We are looking for compassionate and reliable Teaching Assistants who can provide consistent, patient support to pupils who need it most.

Many of the children you’ll work with may find traditional classrooms challenging. They need adults who can build trust, remain calm, and help them feel safe and understood in school.

If you believe behaviour is communication, not defiance, this could be the perfect role for you.

The Role

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils across Barnet schools who require additional help with learning, emotional regulation, and engagement in the classroom.

Your responsibilities may include:

• Providing 1:1 support for pupils with autism or SEMH needs
• Supporting pupils during lessons and structured learning activities
• Helping pupils manage emotions and remain engaged in learning
• Working alongside teachers and SENCOs to support individual learning plans
• Supporting positive behaviour using calm and consistent strategies
• Assisting with small group interventions where needed

What We Offer

• Flexible agency work across Barnet schools
• Competitive daily pay
• Opportunities for long-term placements and permanent roles
• Ongoing SEND and behaviour training
• Support from a specialist SEND recruitment team
• The chance to work in schools that prioritise inclusive and trauma-informed support

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for candidates who:

Have at least 6 months experience working in a school setting
Have supported pupils with SEND, SEMH, autism, or behavioural needs
Are calm, patient, and resilient
Can build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
Are reliable, proactive, and adaptable

Experience as a SEND Teaching Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, or school-based support worker is highly desirable.

Why This Role Matters

For some pupils with additional needs, the right Teaching Assistant can make the difference between feeling overwhelmed and feeling capable.

Your patience, encouragement, and consistency can help pupils build confidence, regulate emotions, and succeed in school.

Apply today to join a supportive SEND agency and make a real difference in Barnet schools. Apply to Zack at PS Inclusion or call 0203 011 4848
