Teaching Assistant – ASC & Complex Needs
Location: Hounslow, West London
Contract type: Full-time, Long-term (term-time only)
Salary: £90 – £100 per day (PAYE)

 

About the Role

Are you passionate about supporting young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and complex needs? We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant to join a specialist provision in Hounslow.

In this role, you will provide tailored 1:1 and small group support, helping students to access learning, build independence, and develop communication and social skills. Every day will be different, and your support will make a tangible difference to a child’s life.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting students with ASC and complex needs both in and out of the classroom

  • Using strategies such as visual supports, structured routines, and communication aids (PECS, Makaton, AAC)

  • Promoting independence, social interaction, and emotional regulation

  • Building strong, trusting relationships with students, staff, and families

  • Assisting with sensory regulation, behaviour support, and personal care (if required – training provided)

  • Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and external professionals to ensure holistic support

 

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working with children or young people with ASC, complex needs, or SEMH (professional or voluntary)

  • A calm, patient, and adaptable approach

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to understand non-verbal communication

  • A genuine passion for inclusive education and supporting vulnerable learners

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
