SEND Teaching Assistant | Hounslow | Full-Time

Where patience, understanding, and consistency truly matter.

Some education roles focus on outcomes first.
This one begins with meeting children where they are.

This SEND Teaching Assistant role is based in Hounslow and supports children and young people with a range of special educational needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, learning differences, communication needs, and sensory regulation challenges.

Many pupils need adults who understand that progress may look different, communication may not be verbal, and learning only happens when a child feels safe and supported.

This is not a general classroom support role.
It is a specialist SEND position requiring emotional intelligence, curiosity, and genuine commitment.

The setting

You will be working in a specialist SEND environment supporting pupils with needs such as:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)

  • ADHD and attention regulation differences

  • Speech, language, and communication needs

  • Moderate to severe learning difficulties

  • Sensory processing and regulation needs

  • Emotional regulation and anxiety

Support is personalised. Class sizes are small.
The environment is structured to reduce overwhelm and support regulation, communication, and independence.

Your day-to-day role

This role is practical, relational, and highly rewarding.

You will be:

  • Supporting pupils with a wide range of SEND needs

  • Working one-to-one or within small, specialist classrooms

  • Supporting communication, learning, and independence

  • Helping pupils regulate sensory and emotional needs

  • Using visual supports, routines, and structured strategies

  • Encouraging engagement through patience and consistency

  • Working closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff

  • Being part of a collaborative, child-centred SEND team

Progress may be gradual. Some days will test your resilience.
The small moments of connection and growth are what make this role meaningful.

Who this role is right for

This role will suit someone who:

  • Has genuine SEND experience, professional or personal

  • Understands Autism and learning differences

  • Is calm, patient, and emotionally attuned

  • Can support non-verbal or minimally verbal pupils

  • Is reflective and open to specialist training

  • Is looking for long-term work in SEND, not a short-term placement

If you are unsure about working with complex needs, this may not be the right environment.
If you value inclusion, understanding, and meaningful support, you will feel at home here.

What you will need

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEND

  • Confidence working with Autism and additional needs

  • A calm, consistent approach to behaviour and communication

  • Commitment to full-time work, Monday to Friday

  • A genuine interest in specialist education and inclusion

Pay, contract, and values

  • Competitive daily rate

  • Paid PAYE only

  • No umbrella companies or hidden deductions

  • Long-term opportunity with potential for permanence

  • Transparent, ethical, SEND-specialist recruitment
