An outstanding specialist school in Enfield is looking for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join its supportive team from September, with the opportunity to move from temporary to permanent employment.
The school supports pupils from Early Years through to Key Stage 3, working with children and young people with a range of complex needs, including ASC, SEMH, MLD, SLD, ADHD, and speech and language needs. As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support, helping pupils access learning while developing their confidence, communication, independence and life skills. The role may also involve personal care where required.

Alongside their academic education, pupils have access to a varied and engaging curriculum, including swimming, music lessons and yoga, helping them develop essential communication, social and practical skills in a fun and supportive setting.
The school's small class sizes, typically 10–12 pupils, allow staff to build strong relationships with students and provide highly individualised support. Each class benefits from a team of around five experienced staff, including a qualified Teacher, HLTA and three SEND Teaching Assistants. You will therefore be joining a collaborative team where you will have plenty of support and opportunities to learn from experienced SEND professionals.
With several campuses covering Early Years through to Post-16, the school offers excellent opportunities for career progression. Whether you are interested in progressing towards an HLTA role, teacher training or specialist therapeutic work, there are clear pathways available. You will also receive ongoing training and professional development to help you develop your knowledge, skills and confidence within specialist education.
This is a Monday to Friday position, working 8:00am–3:30pm, with a slightly later day of 8:30am–5:00pm every other Wednesday to allow staff to take part in the school's dedicated training and development programme. The position is offered on a temp-to-permanent basis, making it an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career within specialist education.
Experience working with children or young people with SEND would be beneficial, but the school is also open to individuals who are looking to begin a career in this rewarding sector. The role would be particularly valuable for aspiring Educational, Clinical or Child Psychologists looking to gain hands-on experience within a specialist setting.
