We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to provide 2:1 support for a child in Reception within a welcoming and supportive mainstream primary school. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference in a child's educational journey while working closely with experienced teaching and SEND staff.
Working Hours: 8:30am to 1:00pm, Monday to Friday (hours may extend to full days depending on funding arrangements for the child).
The school benefits from excellent transport links and is within easy reach of East Ham, Upton Park, and Plaistow District Line stations.
The Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide dedicated 2:1 support for a child in Reception with additional needs.
- Support the child's learning, communication, and social development throughout the school day.
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENDCo to deliver personalised learning strategies and interventions.
- Encourage independence, confidence, and positive engagement in classroom activities.
- Assist with personal care when required, ensuring the child's dignity, comfort, and wellbeing are always maintained.
- Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
- Has a minimum of 1 year's experience working within a school setting.
- Has experience supporting children with SEND.
- Is comfortable providing personal care when required.
- Demonstrates patience, empathy, resilience, and excellent communication skills.
- Can build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
- Is committed to supporting every child to reach their full potential.
